History

Incorporation and Initial Operations​​

​

  • The Philippine Oncology Center Corporation (POCC) was incorporated on October 22, 2008.

  • On November 10, 2008, POCC took ownership of Marian Radiation Oncology Center, located at the basement of Marian Medical Arts Building, Dahlia Avenue, West Fairview Park, Quezon City.

  • Facility spans 386 square meters and includes:

    • CT Scan machine

    • Computerized treatment planning system

    • Medical Linear Accelerator (Linac) treatment room

    • Doctors’ rooms

    • Medical physicist’s room for treatment planning

  • Refurbishment and upgrades were done for machines, systems, and facilities.

Clinical Operations Begin​

​

  • POCC started providing quality cancer treatment services on its Grand Opening Day: February 21, 2009.

  • Attended by:

    • Philippine Vice-President Hon. “Kabayan” Noli De Castro

    • Department of Health Secretary Hon. Francisco Duque

Expansion through Partnership with JRRMMC​

​

  • A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed with Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center (JRRMMC) in Sta. Cruz, Manila. Clinical operations of JRRMMC-POCC Cancer Institute began on January 1, 2011.

  • Scope: Supply, operation, and maintenance of:

    • Dedicated CT Scan for simulation

    • Computerized treatment planning system

    • Medical linear accelerator

    • High dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy​​

 

Expansion to the South (Batangas)

​​

  • On September 1, 2014, POCC assumed administration, management, and operation of the Department of Radiotherapy of St. Frances Cabrini Medical Center – Cancer Institute in Sto. Tomas, Batangas.

  • Equipment includes:

    • 2 linear accelerators (1 with VMAT treatment modality)

    • 1 HDR brachytherapy afterloader

    • 1 CT Scan machine

Expansion to the North (La Union)

​

  • POCC is started a cancer care clinic at the basement of Bethany Hospital Inc., San Fernando City, La Union.

Partnership in Manila Area​

​

  • On December 8, 2015, POCC signed a MOA with Medical Center Manila (ManilaMed).

  • Clinical operations set to begin.

Another Expansion in the South (Cavite)

​

  • POCC forged an agreement with De La Salle University Medical Center for the construction, supply, and operation of a radiotherapy center inside the hospital compound.

  • The Cancer Center started in clinical operation in August 2018.

​

  • POCC is the first and only stand-alone integrated radiation therapy center in the Philippines.

  • Uses cutting-edge technology and multi-disciplinary team approach.

  • Staffed by a pool of board-certified radiation oncologists.

  • Has expanded and is growing to further reach out to many career - stricken Filipinos.
